Artist Bio
Chrystal Hardt is a native North Carolinian with many years of experience exploring the world through visual media.
Her first solo show was in Hillsborough in 1991 and she continues to show regularly throughout the Triangle.
Early memories include guiding the horse and slide through the tobacco fields and the magic of receiving a pony and later two horses for Christmas.
Their energy and beauty still animate her paintings.
Her artistic journey began In 1985 after a trip to Europe when friends suggested painting travel photos.
She quickly began painting from intuition and expressing the unseen aspects of life through paint.
Classes at UNCG gave formal training and knowledge of art history allowed fur- ther development of the work.
Her paintings hang in collectors homes throughout the US and in Europe.
Public commissions include a portrait of young Ms Kirby for the auditorium of the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex
and a mural of life on the lake that is semi abstract for the exterior of the center.
One of the latest undertakings is the creation of a mural entitled, “Dancing on the Roof”,
which depicts people of many backgrounds dancing as one in the circle dance of life.
